In China and Japan, fungi have been cultivated for thousands of years, & continue to be popularly prescribed in medicine to treat many ailments. Historically ancient civilizations such as the Mayan, Mazatec and Egyptian cultures used fungi as part of their diet for mental and physical vitality, as well as in ritual. The Aztecs commonly consumed Cacao and entheogenic Mushrooms together. Whilst the cacao bean (from which chocolate is made) was coined 'Food of the Gods' the Aztecs referred to psilocybin mushrooms as teunamacatlth, which literally translates as 'God's Flesh', in the old tongue. They believed cacao and mushrooms to be a divine combination, both on the physical and spiritual plane. We involve non-psychoactive mushrooms and combine it with cacao in some of our recipes, to pay homage to and instil some nostalgia into our products.
